When was the last time you allowed yourself to be silly? As adults, we are serious all of the time; we’re total drags. Do you remember what it felt like to be a kid? Someone that didn’t care what people would think if you did exactly what you really wanted like release a loud fart in public or stick your tongue to a frozen pole?

I always loved to entertain and would often make up dances both on land and in the swimming pool. I would play “dress-up” and put on crazy clothes. I was obsessed with a beaded belt my grandfather bought for me in the Four Corners and would wear it with absolutely everything — my pajamas, pretty formal dresses. I probably would have worn it in the shower. I wasn’t afraid to sing out loud in the park, or in the car, or in the bathtub. I wasn’t afraid to create a game of chase in a mall filled with people on a Saturday. None of this hurt anyone; it was called playing and it was fun!

My Nourish post is simple. Do something silly. Release some of that adult tension and ignore propriety. Dance to your favorite song at work even though you don’t have rhythm. Sing out loud when you go for your run tomorrow and ignore the looks. Wear your fanciest dress to get a fast-food cheeseburger; don’t worry about the stains. Who cares! Do it.

And, most of all, put your face in the ice cream sundae. You know you want to! And think of how your kids will react. I hope they laugh and join you.
