Spring Into Self Care: 15 Practices to Refresh Your Routine

There is nothing quite like the smell of fresh rainfall and the site of flowers blooming. Spring is known as the “season of new beginnings,” and it’s no wonder why! It’s all about coming out of rest and hibernation, and seeing rebirths, new ideas, and movement come to life.

For me, Spring is the time to take a look at my rituals and refresh those that no longer align with me. It’s also the season to reflect on how well we’re doing taking care of ourselves.

Here are 15 ways that you can refresh your self-care routine this Spring.

  1. Gardening: Taking time daily to tend to your garden and watch your plants grow allows you to see that with patience great things will come. Instead of thinking of any plants not growing the best, think of them as experiments that you’re learning from.
  2. Go for a hike: The warm days are the perfect time to go out into nature and do a forest bath.
  3. Update your vision board: Vision boards are meant to be fluid – goals change! As you are seeing all the regrowth around you, take it as an opportunity to put fresh ideas on your board.
  4. Journal: This is such a great practice to release any feelings and find your purpose. As a creator myself, it’s where I generate a lot of my ideas because it’s my time to just release my thoughts and let them flow. If you find your ideas come to you when you don’t have a journal handy, record your thoughts via voice note. I love doing this when I’m on a walk.

  1. Meditation practices: Whether you choose to do the standard meditation practice or take an alternative approach, meditation allows you to find your center and rebalance. There are even meditations that involve dance. It’s about finding the one that fits best for you.
  2. Cleansing bath: Different from a regular bath, cleansing baths are meant to clear your chakras and revitalize your aura, bringing you more positive energy. Consider bringing in a crystal into your bath, like tourmaline or rose quartz, to support you energetically.
  3. Update your altar: Take time to update your spiritual altar to bring in the life of Spring – nature, fresh flowers – and include other pieces like a jade egg to represent new life and have cards to pull for each week.
  4. Change your essential oils:  Bring in the smells of Spring with essential oils hand-picked to include the freshest scents of the season. I love citrus which reminds me of spring cleaning and geranium.
  5. Try tapping: Tapping is an incredible way to release negative emotions, bringing your day back in balance and allowing stresses to be expressed.
  6. Eat outside: Spend one of your meals basking in the sun, allowing you a break in the day to have fresh air.
  7. Take a yoga class in the park: Many local yoga studios have been offering outdoor yoga classes, allowing you to stretch and challenge your body while listening to the meditative sounds of nature and making new friends along the way.

  1. Treat your skin: As your skin is bouncing back from the winter weather, take it as an opportunity to refresh your skincare routine or treat yourself to frequent facials.
  2. Buy fresh flowers for yourself: Liven up your living space by incorporating fresh blooms that boost a fragrant Spring scent.
  3. Try a new genre: Refresh your book or music list by trying a genre that you’ve been intrigued by. I recently have been incorporating Debbie Macomber books into my evening reads, allowing me to go to sleep dreaming of a beachside retreat.
  4. Volunteer: While the season of giving has come and gone, the giving doesn’t need to end. Search your local newspaper or contact your Chamber to find volunteer opportunities in your community. There are also many virtual options available too!

During this season, take time to enjoy the weather and give yourself much-needed self-care! And if you’re struggling to find release in your emotions, let’s chat about my private breathwork sessions.
